To play the solo what you have to do is use feedback of your amp. Then you have to put left arm on the tremelo arm and pluck the 'A' string with your right arm. Pluck the string at a medium speed. You then have to decide by listening to the solo weather to go up or down with the arm. When I did it I went up high and moved it up and down there. I then droped it a bit and moved it up and down there then I broke off for 5 seconds and then went down and moved it up and down there.

Now you are probably wondering how the normal guitar riff is still playing when you are doing this. Well what you have to do is by a recording pedal which records a tune and plays it over and over when you push down the pedal. You do have to be sure that you get the solo at the same speed as the tune or otherwise you will end before or after the tune is done. The other way to do it is to hire a DJ and he can play your tune over the top. You have to do the same thing when you play guerrila radio and other rage songs.

im not gonna say your wrong with this method, i am not able to try it right now because, my guitar doesnt have a tremelo bar and i cant get feedback that great with my practice amp...but i can say one thing...i dont think he taps the A string...i dont think he taps any strings at all. i have the "sleep now in the fire" video...here is a picture of the guitar he uses.

sorry its so hard to see...at least note that his hands arnt on the fretboard at all but his left arm is under his guitar neck and is on the tremelo bar and his right hand is on the little "horn" thing, now refering back to the guitar picture, whats there? his pickup switch! heres another pic of tom doing the solo, little different angle

my guess is, hes getting feedback (i was thinking maybe whammy pedal? maybe), using the tremelo bar and toggling the pickup switch.

This really works and any other way to do this solo is wrong because if you look at the video you can see that he is doing this exactly.
